Malaysian Embassy in Zagreb, Croatia

Since the inception of the Embassy, the bilateral relations between Croatia and Malaysia have been warm and cordial. Malaysia and Croatia established its formal diplomatic relations in 1992, after Croatia gained its independence from the Former Republic of Yugoslavia. The Malaysian Embassy in Zagreb was established in July 1994 at the Charge d' Affaires level. In November 1995, Croatia reciprocated with the establishment of its Embassy in Kuala Lumpur at the Ambassadorial level.

In April 2003, Malaysia upgraded its representation in the Republic of Croatia with the appointment of Dato’ M.N. Haji Azman as its first resident Ambassador. H.E. Aminahtun Haji Abdul Karim was appointed as an Ambassador to Croatia during the period from December 2007 to June 2011. Current Ambassador H.E. Yean Yoke Heng assumed his duty as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to the Republic of Croatia on 25 October 2011.

Malaysian in Croatia may renew their passports through the Embassy of Malaysia in Zagreb. Applicants are advised to submit their applicants well ahead of time e.g. 6 months before the passport expires. For renewal of Malaysian Passport, kindly contact the Embassy for further details. Requirements for passport renewal are as follows:

• An application form (IM.42-Pin.1/97) – can be downloaded at www.imi.gov.my; (Must printed in A4 size paper on both side)
• Malaysian International Passport (original and 2 photocopies of the main page and residence permit)
• Birth Certificate (original and 2 photocopies) - for Malaysians under the age of 12
• Identity Card (original and 2 photocopies)
• 3 coloured photographs, size 3.5 cm x 5.0 cm
• Fee: RM300 for 48 pages and RM600 for 64 pages. The validity of the passport would be 5 years.
• For applicants below 12 years old and overseas students below 21 years old, passport fee is RM150.00

To ensure prompt processing please make sure that all supporting documents in Croatian are translated and certified by a Court Licensed Translator, failure to do so will only delay your application. Normally, a new passport can be obtained within 30 days after the date of submission of the application.

Lost of Travel Documents / Passport Abroad

 All lost passport applications will be thoroughly investigated by the Immigration Department in Malaysia before any consideration can be made for its replacement. Passport is an important document therefore it must be in the safe custody of the holder at all times.

For the record, the production of a new passport due to loss usually takes a longer time as it is in the Immigration Department of Malaysia’s discretion when it will finish investigating the loss.

It is important for you to report a lost passport at the nearest police station. Some police stations do have a standard document property lost form but if not, kindly ask for a note or slip with the police station address printed on it and request them to fill in the report number.

Report the loss at the nearest Police Station and submit the report to the nearest Malaysian Mission.

Documents required to be submitted are as follows:

◦ A copy of the police report
◦ Other documents that can be used as proof of citizenship as such MyKad, Driving License, Birth certificate & etc.

An Emergency Certificate will be issued by the Mission which would enable the person to travel home to Malaysia (one way trip).

Emergency Certificate

Requirements for the Emergency Certificate are as follows:

• Form (IM.42C) + Borang Permohonan Perakuan Cemas (IM.41) (Available at the Embassy)
• Original Police Report
• 2 recent coloured photos (3.5 cm x 5.0 cm);
• Identity card;
• Birth certificate (if any);
• Evidence of RETURN air ticket to Malaysia
• Emergency Certificate fee of RM50.00

Other Services

The Embassy also offers the following services and provides assistance in following cases:

• Registration of absent voters for qualified Malaysians in Croatia;
• Serving judicial documents to defendants in Malaysia or in Croatia;
• Obtaining diplomatic clearance for Malaysian aircrafts flying over or landing in the Croatia territory;
• Locating missing Malaysians in Croatia;
• Arrest of Malaysians in Croatia;
• Death of Malaysians in Croatia; and
• Emergency situation such as riot, flood, earthquake etc.
